The technique used is cutwork (or Richelieu/Renaissance embroidery), characterized by large floral motifs cut into the fabric and connected by bars embroidered in blanket stitch. The inner details of the petals and leaves are finished in satin stitch and stem stitch, giving the entire design a three-dimensional effect.
